Meet Kevin

I love Alaska.  My wife and I have made our home here for 34 years and raised our two daughters here.  I am committed to making the right decisions to move Alaska forward.

Running for Lt. Governor is the best way I can do my part to elect a new Republican Governor in 2018.  I’ve been in the State Senate for 9 years, and this is the next step for me to help advance conservative values.  I want to be part of the new Republican leadership team that tackles the challenges we face and creates the opportunity we deserve.

About Kevin

Kevin Meyer was born and raised in Beatrice, Nebraska, a small farming community in rural Nebraska.  The youngest of four children,  he attributes his work ethic to rising early, completing his daily chores and taking care of the cows, pigs, and chickens before heading off to school.  As a youth, he participated in 4-H.  He started hunting and fishing at an early age, two pastimes he shares today with his daughters in Alaska.

Kevin attended the University of Nebraska, earning a Bachelor’s of Science degree.  His graduate work was completed at the University of New Mexico, where he earned a Master’s in Public Administration.  He met his wife, Marty, while attending school in Albuquerque and they were married in 1981. In 1983, Kevin’s employer ARCO offered him the opportunity and adventure of a lifetime to work in Anchorage. Kevin and Marty have called Alaska home for the past thirty-four years, and raised their two daughters, Karly and Valentina, here.

Kevin now works for ConocoPhillips as a procurement coordinator. While working there, he also earned a Master¹s in Business Administration degree from Alaska Pacific University.

Kevin has had a long career in public service.  He was elected to the Anchorage Assembly, the State House of Representatives, and the Alaska State Senate.  He has held several key leadership positions in the legislature, including Co-Chair of the House and Senate Finance Committees, Senate Majority Leader, and Senate Rules Chairman.  He was chosen by his Republican colleagues to serve as Senate President in 2015-2016.

Kevin has been actively involved in community service organizations, serving on the board of directors for Standing Together Against Rape (STAR), the Anchorage Chamber of Commerce, the Anchorage Economic Development Council, the Boys and Girls Club of Alaska, and Habitat for Humanity.

He is a member of the National Rifle Association, the Alaska Outdoor Council, and the Kenai River Sport Fishing Association.
